Data Recovery
Laptop data recovery has proven to be an extremely common
data recovery situation. Since laptops are mobile computers they are more
susceptible to physical damage than desktops.
Please follow
these steps if you are experiencing laptop hard drive failure:
- Please Shut down or power off the laptop.
- If laptop was dropped or in a power surge, definitely
do not re-power computer! Furthermore, it is suggested to not restart
the laptop in any situation as this could potentially cause further
hard drive damage.
- If hard disk is making noises or not spinning you will
definitely need to contact a professional data recovery company for
data retrieval.
- Do not attempt to open hard drive or swap any parts because
this will result in further damage and drastically reduce your chances
of a successful data recovery.
- Most computer repair stores will not be able to recover
data from a physically damaged hard drive. They will usually send your
hard drive to a professional data recovery company and you will spend
more.
- Contact ComeBack Data Recovery immediately. ComeBack
Data Recovery specializes in retrieving data from physically damaged
laptop hard disks with affordable pricing. We can typically recover
your data in as little as 1-3 days.
Signs of a failed laptop hard drive:
- Hard Drive Freezes
Hard drive frequently freezes and you lose control of the mouse and
keyboard. In a freeze, your cursor remains stationary and does not respond.
In this situation, shut down the computer and contact ComeBack Data
Recovery.
- Losing Files
If you were working on a file, but it is not on your computer the next
restart then your hard drive may be showing signs of failure.
- Lockup During Boot UP
If your computer locks up frequently, consider it a danger signal. If
you are getting any error messages stating “hard drive or device
not found” then you are probably experiencing hard drive failure.
- Clicking or Grinding Hard Drive
If the mechanics of the drive fails you will usually hear the drive
making strange metallic noises. When your system has experienced a crashed
hard drive, the hard drive will not be able to boot. This is typically
when the read/write head failed and is banging or clicking. In addition,
there may be damage to the hard drive's platters. You may even get a
black cursor or blue screen of death.
- Electronic Failure
If the electronics or PCB board of the drive fails, the hard drive usually
will not spin at all. In this situation, no power will be going to the
hard drive. Do not attempt to use another board from an identical drive
as there is code written within the PCB which will be unique to the
drive. Ultimately, you will need to contact a professional data recovery
service.
- System Black or Blue Screens
This usually means that the operating system has been damaged. There
may be bad sectors, or files on your hard drive that the system is unable
to read due to physical failure.
- Drive Not Formatted Error Message
A drive not formatted error will typically indicate the hard drive's
partition has been damaged, deleted or corrupted. This can be caused
by a power outage or surge, virus or installing software can damage
a partition.
- Operating System Not Found Error Message
An “operating system not found” message usually means that
the operating system files are damaged. In this situation the boot device
priority may have been changed. If the partition table is damaged, the
computer will not be able to recognize the operating system type.
